[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The 2018 Juno Awards presented a night of celebration for the top stars of Canadian music. Host Michael Buble started off the night with the announcement that his wife is currently pregnant with their third child. This was followed by plenty of optimistic statements from the winners of the evening.
Rising above the Negativity
One of the big winners was Arcade Fire. The band won an award for their album, “Everything Now.” During his acceptance speech, frontman Win Butler stated that he hoped that “we can all rise above negativity in our lives.” He expressed the need to speak your own truth, and Canadian Visa Professionals agrees with this statement.
Honoring the Late Gord Downie
Canadian Visa Professionals noticed that the 2018 Juno Awards was also a night to honor those that we have lost, including Gord Downie. The lead singer of the Canadian rock band The Tragically Hip, Gord Downie died last year of brain cancer.
Gord Downie’s brothers, Patrick and Mike, accepted an award for the singer and mentioned that they learned the value of taking care of each other from their late brother. This was followed by an acoustic tribute to Downie performed by Sarah Harmer, Dallas Green, and keyboardist Kevin Hearn from the Barenaked Ladies.
